"Hearts and thoughts they fade, fade away", zong Eddie Vedder onlangs op het podium van Vorst Nationaal.
Niet bij MULTI alleszins, hier zwoegt het hoofd én klopt het hart als nooit tevoren. Het één kan trouwens nooit zonder het ander, zeker niet in onze sector van engineering. Onze ingenieurs voegen niet alleen hun vakkennis toe aan onze projecteen, ze zetten ook hun hele persoonlijkheid in.
Zo vertelt Bert bijvoorbeeld dat hij niet de man is die jarenlang hetzelfde werk doet op dezelfde plek. En maar goed ook, want dankzij die karaktertrek bijt hij zich met graagte telkens opnieuw vast in nieuwe projecten voor nieuwe klanten.
En de stagiairs die we drie maanden onder onze vleugels hadden. Zij dokterden met hun hoofd een ingenieuze oplossen uit om afval uit rivieren te halen. Maar het was hun passie voor engineering die hen deed volharden.
Die zelfs zo aanstekelijk werkte dat heel wat collega's het project mee op de voet volgden en spontaan hun expertise aanboden.
We werken er bij MULTI hard aan om hoofd en hart te ontwikkelen en voldoende ruimte te geven. Via vakopleidingen en bedrijfsbezoeken, maar ook via feestjes, yogasessies en onze familiedag. Want zoals Bieke Van Gool het in dit nummer zo mooi verwoordt: als je impact wil hebben, moet je bij klanten mensen presenteren die niet alleen vakkundig zijn, maar ook wederzijdse echtheid binnenbrengen en kritisch-vriendschappelijk met de klant omgaan.

Not at MULTI in any case, here the head toils and the heart beats like never before. One can never do without the other, certainly not in our engineering sector. Our engineers not only add their expertise to our projects, they also use their entire personality.
For example, Bert explains that he is not the man who does the same job for years in the same place. And that's a good thing, because thanks to this character trait, he is eager to get stuck into new projects for new customers.
And the interns we had under our wing for three months. They invented an ingenious solution with their heads to remove waste from rivers. But it was their passion for engineering that made them persevere.
It was so infectious that many colleagues followed the project closely and spontaneously offered their expertise.
At MULTI we work hard to develop head and heart and to give them enough space. Through professional training and company visits, but also through parties, yoga sessions and our family day. Because as Bieke Van Gool puts it so beautifully in this issue: if you want to have an impact, you have to present people to customers who are not only professional, but who also introduce mutual authenticity and deal with the customer in a critical-friendly way.
